The gaming industry has wildly taken off in recent years and it doesn't look like it will be slowing down anytime soon. It's hard not to walk into somebody's home these days and not find some sort of video gaming console system showcased in their home entertainment room. Be it an Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo or something old school like a Wii - video games are everywhere and as popular today as they ever were.

If you don't consider yourself a gamer then you probably are not all that familiar with common gaming terms that are thrown around by fans without much second though as to what they mean such as RPG, MMP or MMO. Luckily you have us to help you navigate your way through the trenches of the online gaming world so that if you ever do find yourself needing to decipher gamer speak you'll be prepared to give it a go.

Teaching you the meanings of more than one gaming terminology at a time might be a little confusing and daunting for you. We don't want you to be dumbfounded when reading this article so we're going to stick to one gaming word at a time and for the purpose of this article the gaming term of the day is MMO. Not to be confused with HMO (Home Maintenance Organization), MMO stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Game.

In some instances MMO is also known as MMOG and that's important to know, as they are not two distinct abbreviations in the world of gaming. MMO video games are some of the most popular video games around because they have the capability to support hundreds of thousands of gamers at one time. Since there can be such a huge volume of players connected at one single time to an MMO game they must be played online, whether they're played in or outside of Brantford realty properties. They also have to be featured in something known as a persistent world, which is a virtual world that keeps on existing even if a user has left it.

It used to be that MMO games were mostly played on personal computers but video game consoles of today have built-in Internet capabilities, which allows gamers to connect to their virtual MMO persistent world through consoles like those mentioned above. For gamers on the go Android and iOS mobile phone operating systems can also be used to play MMO games.

The biggest reason why MMO games are so popular is because they allow gamers to connect with one another in a way they feel comfortable. By creating new worlds or teaming up to conquer evil demons in a variety of video game genres they are interacting in a meaningful way that they might not do so in other parts of their non-virtual worlds. The next time you hear a family member say to you that they are MMO gaming, you might want to take the time to understand their world, as it will mean a lot to them and give you something new to bond over.

Just be careful, as you might get so into MMO games that you'll want to move onto MMORPG games and that's a lesson for another day.
